i.Sense EC.P - The smart Condition monitoring system for push/pull force monitoring of e-chains®

The functional principle of condition monitoring can be described in a few sentences: DMS force sensors installed on the e-chain® moving end side continuously record machine data, a.o. the push/pull force necessary for movement and transmit these to the top-hat (DIN) rail module mounted in the switch cabinet. Most failures are preceded by an increase in the force applied, e.g. due to foreign bodies, snow/ice, misalignment, or deformed or loose guide troughs. Based on experience in the igus laboratory, as well as thousands of applications in the field, the force limits determined for the application are set on the i.Sense module. If limits are exceeded, the customer control system is informed immediately and can avoid high repair costs by shutting down quickly. In this way, smart condition monitoring can be implemented quickly and easily, even through subsequent retrofitting.

 The EC.P (EC = e-chain P = pull force) sensor is mounted on the (floating) moving end of the e-chain. There, it measures pull forces applied to the e-chain. If the forces are exceeded, the sensor detects this, reports it and, if necessary, switches off the plant, in order to prevent possible consequential or total damage to the equipment.
