Transporting earth from up to 65m deep pits is made possible by a pulley block module from the French company Ets Payant, which is attached under the boom of an excavator. All components have to withstand the effects of weather, dust and heavy impacts: igubal W300 double joints, iglide P flange mounted bearings, iglide G thrust washers
The pulley block module is designed for a conventional 40t hydraulic excavator and consists of a winch module and a hose reel. It weighs just under 7t and is fixed to the excavator boom using a quick coupling system. The system also contains a guide roller module, which is also attached to the end of the bucket of the shovel with a quick coupling system.
Used in underground railway construction
The excavator with pulley block module is used, for example, for building underground railway lines that run underneath the existing underground railway network. It can therefore be found in urban areas and must be as compact and easy to transport as possible. In fact, the dimensions in the transport position with the hose reels folded in are identical to those of a conventional excavator.
With its gripper, the excavator can carry large quantities of earth from the underground tunnels and load 5t of material in one go. The loads and forces acting on the machine are considerable. Furthermore, operating conditions are demanding for all components, such as weather, strong vibrations and dust.
