Overview

The packaging of fruit and vegetables - as everywhere in food technology - is subject to the highest hygiene standards, which are reflected in the choice of individual machine components. When deciding on the liner bearings or spindle drives to be used for the numerous format adjustments in the packaging units, attention is therefore paid to complete freedom from lubricants as well as corrosion-resistant and chemically resistant components for regular cleaning. Other requirements include complete freedom from maintenance, a long service life and low noise levels during operation.

Products used and application examples

In packaging machines - whether for film or cardboard packaging - hygienic and maintenance-free format adjustments are required at various points. Based on a packaging machine for fruit, the stations and the motions plastic used are shown:

To adapt the tray for the packaging material, drylin® R-bearing made of iglidur® J are used. They ensure a lubrication-free bearing on the stainless steel shaft.

Several linear units of the type drylin® SLW 1040 enable the operating personnel to quickly convert the packaging system to other pack sizes and formats.

3. dispensing the packaging unit
linear modules, which are connected via a toothed belt, are suitable for automatic SHTdispensing. The output pushers are driven by drylin® NEMA stepper motors.

Film packaging of fruit and vegetables

This machine packs lettuce, cabbage or broccoli in film. Vulnerable metal bearings have been replaced by durable drylin® linear bearings.
