In washing systems for regional and high-speed trains, igus components have to show what they can do. In addition to permanent stress, there is also contact with water and cleaning agents. This is no problem for igus components. iglidur bearings are available in 50 different high-performance polymers. These also include materials that have been developed for contact with chemicals and media. Since the bearing materials contain incorporated solid lubricants, additional lubrication is unnecessary. This is a decisive advantage, especially in constant contact with dirt and cleaning agents. On top of that, iglidur plain bearings are maintenance and corrosion-free.

Energy chains from igus are used to safely guide cables over long travels. The e-chain range includes models for long travel distances as well as for suspended applications. Cables for power supply as well as hoses for water and de-icing agents are routed in the cable carriers. The internal structure of the e-chains is designed to increase the service life of cables and hoses despite frequent use. If chainflex cables are used, the service life is also increased. These cables have been explicitly developed for tight bend radii and torsional movements. The use of smart plastics cable carriers and cables is particularly useful in car washes. These are capable of signalling maintenance requirements at an early stage so that a failure can be prevented.
