Components in the bogie are exposed to particularly high loads, which is why the bearing bushings used there must be very robust. Added to this are vibrations, weather and temperature differences as well as a high dirt load. iglidur plain bearings are ideal for such harsh areas of application thanks to their materials made of high-performance polymers and are also corrosion-free.

iglidur plain bearings can be used in caliper brakes and brake calipers. Over 50 different materials with different properties enable the bearings to be precisely matched to the application conditions of these brakes. Even in extreme cold or heat, iglidur plain bearings guarantee full functionality. Use at application temperatures between -100°C and 250°C is therefore no problem.

In the bogie, iglidur plain bearings run on almost all shafts. Regardless of whether hardened, soft, steel or stainless steel shafts are used. Typical applications are the bearing points in the roll system. All iglidur materials also contain incorporated solid lubricants that make additional lubrication and maintenance superfluous. By dispensing with additional lubricants, the plain bearings are weather-resistant and ideally suited for use in brake systems.

Sliding plates from igus are also used in the chassis and on the springs. Here, the proven iglidur high-performance materials are extruded in the form of a bar stock plate and can then be individually processed and installed as required. If required, igus can manufacture customised bearing elements and sliding plates for you.
