Chain, cable, plug: Ready-to-install energy supply in SAMAG machine tool

The SAMAG SFZ series is a completely newly developed long-bed machine tool in travel column design. The Y and Z axes have a travel of 1,000 mm. And the X travel can be selected in four steps from 2,500 mm to 7,500 mm. Particular attention was paid to high rigidity and stability as well as high performance, which achieves a large machining volume. The machining takes place at up to 40m/min and an acceleration of 5m/s²- For this reason, a cable routing should also be found for all three linearly moving axes, which can insist on a broad portfolio of requirements. In the environmental conditions of a typical industrial production, which is characterized by chips and cooling lubricants, and reliability of the energy supply should be guaranteed. Maintenance intervals are to be extended and planning security is to be increased. Since space in machine tools is always tight, the cable routing also had to be compactly designed. Most recently, solutions were sought that ensure fast assembly and thus low organizational costs.

SAMAG found what it was looking for in our E4Q.82 series e-chains as a pre-assembled readychain energy chain system. Thanks to the cable routing of the readychain Premium version, which is already fully equipped with cables and plugs, the assembly time on the machine could be reduced by approx. 2/3. At the beginning of the project, SAMAG provided us with all the necessary parameters, such as the required cables and hoses, their assembly, the length of the travel distances or the space available. As a result, the machine specialist was able to save not only an increased expenditure of time but also a greater organizational effort. After close planning by our project team together with the contact persons of Samag Machine Tool GmbH, the first and second prototypes were installed at the customer's site together with the assembly management, optimizations were developed and implemented promptly.
