It is crucial that the components used in medical equipment be dry-running, cleanroom-compatible, media-resistant, corrosion-free and noise-damping. igus® supplies plastic plain bearings, linear bearings, cables, and cable carriers that encompass all of these properties. Dry-running bearings are used in X-ray robots, laboratory devices, patient chairs, hospital beds and prostheses, among others. Maintenance-free e-chains are also used to protect and guide cables in operating theater devices, rehabilitation systems, imaging diagnostic equipment and more. It’s best to pair these e-chains with our continuous-flex chainflex® cables which can achieve low bend radii ideal for compact medical equipment. Cleanroom-compatible cables and cable carriers are available as well.

As part of igus’ focus on providing hygienic components, many iglide bearing materials are designed completely to be PTFE-free, and have been tested for the 96 most critical PFAS substances using the SQP M1227 test method. These materials were found to not contain any of these substances at greater than 0.1% by mass.
